Hidden Green Stars

Green Star Locations

In “Super Mario Galaxy“, there are 120 power stars that can be collected (only 60 stars need to be collected in order to finish the game, while the remaining 60 add more challenging levels and game time). 3 of these power stars are special hidden green stars. These Green stars are well hidden in the game, and when all of them are discovered, unlock the “Trial Galaxies“.

The Trial Galaxies are 3 extra galaxies that can be played in the game, featuring some special play modes, such as surfing, flying in a bubble, and rolling on a ball. They are especially difficult, but very fun galaxies to have open.

We’ve made it easy for you in the following guide by revealing the Hidden Green Star Locations!

Battlerock Galaxy Green Star

This hidden green star is probably the easiest of the bunch, but it won’t be available until fairly late into the game. After finding Luigi at Luigi’s Haunted Mansion, Mario’s brother will start getting lost in different galaxies. Keep finding where he ends up getting lost, and eventually, he’ll get lost in the Battlerock Galaxy (located at the Fountain Observatory). By saving Luigi in this Galaxy, you’ll rescue a Green Power Star!

Dusty Dune Galaxy Green Star

In the Bedroom Observatory, you’ll need to access the Dusty Dune Galaxy for a hidden green star. Stock up on all the star bits you can in the level, because you’ll need to feed a hungry Luma later on. As you play through the level, you’ll get to a zone with a donut shaped planet that has several rolling stones on top of it. From this location, you’ll need to check the undersides of the surrounding platforms for a Hungry Luma. Feed the Luma the specified number of star bits, and it will transform into a new pyramid planet. Inside of the Pyramid, you need to collect 5 silver stars in order to make the Green star appear.

Buoy Base Galaxy Green Star

Inside of the Kitchen Observatory, you’ll need to play through some of the Galaxies in order to unlock the Buoy Base Galaxy. Once unlocked, begin by swimming to the bottom of the planet, and have a Bullet Bill follow you to a cage surrounding a green pipe. Once you travel through this pipe, you’ll have to maneuver your way past quite a few Bullets and other baddies, but you’ll eventually find yourself in possession of the final Green Star!

After unlocking all of these Hidden Green Stars, you’ll be able to fly to the “Planet of Trials”! Good Luck!
